Welcome!

Welcome to the website for ‘Fluidity’: a one-day Postgraduate Conference on 13th May 2020 organised by the research cluster Writing in Transit at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, University of Glasgow. Loath to have our discussion halted by COVID-19, we will be holding the conference as a Zoom Webinar from 9.20am – 5pm. If you would like to participate in the conference as a virtual attendee, please sign up here where you can also view the provisional programme. You will receive a link to the Webinar the day before the conference along with a password enabling you to view participants’ research posters. When you receive it, click here where you can also meet the authors and read more about their research. There will be an e-reception at the end of the conference to give everyone the opportunity to engage with presenters over a glass of your choice (which we are sorry not to be able to provide on this occasion!)

Our presenters will be exploring how Comparative Literature and Translation Studies analyse, question, shape and create flows by connecting texts, art forms, ideas and languages. Exophonic writing, transnational literature and ecocriticism are some of the topics chosen by our presenters to highlight these connections. Take a look at all our speakers and their abstracts here.

We are also honoured to welcome keynote speakers Dr Georgina Collins and Prof. Roberto A. Valdeón, as well as Dr César Domínguez and Prof. Susan Bassnett who will join us for a roundtable.
