Hi Dobrochna – thanks for such an illuminating poster. I’m really interested to hear more about how your research has been applied in schools, and what the reception and results have been?
This is a lovely question! I could talk about it for hours. I have so far run two series of workshops in primary schools (one sadly interrupted by the pandemic). The workshops constitute the second part of my research, which I conduct with children as my co-researchers. The reception was great. I was truly impressed by the motivation, engagement, ownership, autonomy and critical and meta-linguistic thinking shown by the workshop participants in response to the multilingual artworks I introduced. And I wish I could share with you the excitement and laughter during the last session when the summary of learning, staged as an interview about learning Polish, was turned by participating children into a celebrity radio show. I hope to share with you soon a chapter in the edited volume, where I discuss some of the findings. The data we created is truly fascinating!
